It’s My Thing is the second LP recorded by American funk singer Marva Whitney, who was “Soul Sister 1” of the James Brown Revue from 1967 to 1969. It was first released during her last year of working with Brown, who produced the album, wrote or co-wrote most of the tunes, and even sings a duet with Whitney on “You Got to Have a Job.” Marva Whitney shines on all tempos, each of them extraordinarily funky, all of them sources for hip hop sampling making Marva a Soul Sister for all generations.
