Whirlwind PodMIXai 2-Channel Active MIxer
The podMIXaiis an active mixing device that combines a microphone or wireless receiver micoutput with an unbalanced stereo audiosource for connection to a single mic level input of a sound system. Use itwith CD and MP3 players, computer sound card outputs, DJ mixers, etc. alongwith a microphone in sports arenas, conference rooms, banquet halls, gymnasiumsand party houses for paging or announcements over background music. The output is mono balanced mic level asshipped, but can be modified for a line level output.
The podMIXaiis a small tabletop enclosure with a rugged, ergonomic design for ease of useand easy storage. A wall adapter power supply (PS12AC1A) is included whichprovides 12 VAC at 1 Amp.
Variablelevel controls on both the mic and music inputs allow level matching and mixingbetween the music source and the microphone. The mic input can provide up to 60dB of gain. The music input can boost the signal 20 dB.
On/Offswitches for both the mic and music inputs allow convenient muting control ofeach signal. A bass cut switch is provided on the mic input which can reducehandling and wind noise.
The LEDmeter has yellow and red LEDs that confirm output level and a green LEDindicates that the podMIXaihas power . The yellow starts to illuminate when theoutput signal reaches -30 dB and the red starts at -10 dB and is fully on whenthe signal reaches -4 dB.
Musicsignals are input via a single 3.5mm (1/8”) stereo TRS jack which are summed tomono. The microphone input is abalanced female XLR jack and the output is via a balanced male XLR jack.
Internaljumpers are provided for applying phantom power to the mic input, changingoutput level from mic to line and lifting the output pin 1 ground. They areaccessed by removing the four screw holding the base of the unit.
